Bleeker Ridge, a Band That I Like!

This week, I will talk about a Canadian rock band named Bleeker Ridge. They have a lot of influences, but they usually do post grunge music. Its members are two sets of brothers, there are Taylor (singer) and Cole Perkins and Dan and Dustin Steinke.
They met each others at a show in Orillia, Ontario and came together in 2003. At that moment, Cole Perkins and Dan Steinke were only 12 years old! Their name comes from the mix of the name of their streets, the Perkins brothers lived on Bleeker St. and the Steinke brothers lived on Ridge Avenue.

They made two independent albums (Undertow and The Rain) and, in 2010, they signed with Roadrunner Records and released the album Small Town Dead. They were known with their first hit “Small Town Dead”, which is the title track of the album.

I like to listen to all the songs of their album Small Town Dead, but my favourite ones are the title track (Small Town Dead), You Would’ve Like It, From Now on, Sixteen Hours and Bitter Soul.

What do you think about them?
And which song do you prefer?

Foster the People, an Interesting Trio!

This week, I want to talk about a different music style. So, I chose an American Indie pop band!

It’s Foster the People, created in 2009 in Los Angeles. Its members are Mark Foster, Cubbie Fink and Mark Pontius. The name comes from the last name of the lead singer and the creator of the band, Mark Foster. Oiginally, it was “Foster & the People”, but people misheard it as “Foster the People”. Finally, it changes for it, because of the double sense, “foster the people” means “take care of people”.

They became known owing to their song “Pumped Up Kicks”, which was a viral success in 2010 and became a crossover hit on radio in 2011, after the release of their first album “Torches”. This album contains songs like “Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls)” and “Call It What You Want”, too.

In my opinion, their music is very interesting, even though it’s different of what I usually listen to. My favourite song of them is “Pumped Up Kicks”.

What do you think about them?
And are you forgetting that I need your propositions for my next posts? :P

LMFAO, Never Tired to Shufflin' !

This week, I didn’t have to search so far to find a group. I just had to turn on the radio and I heard one of their songs!

I’m talking about LMFAO, which knew an incredible success in 2011. It’s an electro pop duo formed in 2006 in Los Angeles. Its members are Stefan Kendal Gordy and his nephew Skyler Austen Gordy, better known under the names of RedFoo and SkyBlu. They are rappers, producers, dancers, and DJs; so people who say that they don’t deserve their success are wrong!

They began to be known in 2010 with the song “Shots” that they did with the rapper Lil Jon, but their real departure towards the glory was in 2011. They surprised everyone with their crazy style, the rhythms of their songs and their extravagant videos. Their album “Sorry for Party Rocking” contains all the songs, like “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It”, which allowed them to be at the top.

I really love the eccentricity of these guys and I can't get their songs out of my head!
What do you think about them?
And do you have some ideas to give for my next posts?

I’m waiting for your comments...
